Hello, I'm Liam

Project manager. Parent. Expat based in Washington, United States.

A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to United States wasn't part of the master plan. Like many international relocations, it began as a work chance and grew into something far bigger.

The early weeks were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks felt more tangled than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job. But gradually, routines settled in. We found spots that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.

Why I Built TulipGrainLab

Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel content. What was missing was an authentic, everyday family viewpoint.

This site exists to fill that gap — practical guidance rooted in real life in United States.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site IS:

  • Practical insights from living in United States
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated when there are genuine changes

This site ISN'T:

  • Not a tourism authority resource
  • Not a sponsored review platform
  • Not a generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in United States goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue documenting what we discover.

If you have inquiries about family life in Washington or anywhere in United States, don't hesitate to contact me.

Best regards,

Liam
